SharePoint Thesaurus Web Part
What is it?
Web parts are software "widgets" that add functionality to a SharePoint implementation. The Montague Institute Thesaurus Web Part enhances the SharePoint Best Bets feature by accessing data from an external metadata repository.
What does it do?
The Thesaurus Web Part eliminates manual SharePoint Best Bet data entry and adds thesaurus relationships to the search results display (see below).

How does it work?
Data is displayed in the SharePoint Best Bets zone on the search results page using the following process:
1. The Web Part grabs the word or phrase that the user types in the SharePoint search box.
2. The Web Part formats the SharePoint query term as an http query of the Montague Knowledge Base, the live metadata repository that powers the Montague Institute Review A - Z indexes.
3. The Web Part formats the results of the Knowledge Base query as XML code that can be displayed on the SharePoint search results page.
All of the data necessary, including thesaurus relationships and links between terms and web pages, is stored in the Knowledge Base (see below).

Where do I get it?
The Thesaurus Web Part is available to clients who complete the SharePoint Hands-On course and contract for custom knowledge base development with Montague Information Technology LLC, the implementation arm of the Montague Institute.
